Temple Chambers Moot 2023

The 2nd annual Temple Chambers Moot will be held in Chambers on Saturday 26 August 2023. The Moot is open to all undergraduate law students and Juris Doctor candidates at universities in Hong Kong and abroad. Students will moot against each other in teams on novel and as-yet unresolved points of Hong Kong law.

The final round will be judged by a panel consisting of the Honourable Mr Justice Godfrey Lam, Justice of Appeal and former member of Chambers, Mr Paul Shieh SC, Head of Chambers, and Ms Eva Sit SC.

    On Monday, 6 March 2023, Queenie Lau will be joining a panel of international arbitration experts from Simmons & Simmons and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC) to discuss recent developments and significant decisions in Hong Kong, Singapore, and England, including those impacting insolvency proceedings where the underlying dispute is governed by the arbitration clause.

    WEBINAR: HOW TO GET A CRYPTO-INJUNCTION

    As marketplace for virtual assets rapidly expands, fraud and theft involving cryptocurrencies have become prevalent. Like in email fraud cases, victims pray in hopes of the Court’s jurisdiction to grant injunctions to trace, freeze, and recover their stolen assets.

    Members of Temple Chambers have acted in some of Hong Kong’s first cases involving cryptocurrencies. Join us for a discussion on the practical issues arising in crypto-injunction applications, including tracing, service, jurisdiction, discovery, and identification of defendants.

    The upcoming International Arbitration Training Programme for Elite Lawyers in the Greater Bay Area, hosted by Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration (SCIA) on 26-28 November 2022 in Shenzhen, will feature Rimsky Yuen SC and Victor Dawes SC as guest speakers.

    Victor Dawes SC, in his capacity as Chairman of the Hong Kong Bar Association, will deliver the introduction to Theme 3 of the programme focusing on international arbitration in Hong Kong. Rimsky Yuen SC will speak on “What Hong Kong Offers as an Arbitration Seat/Place of Arbitration.”
