Shaun joined Chambers after completing his pupillage with Mr Bernard Man SC, Mr Benson Tsoi (now Mr Benson Tsoi SC), Ms Elizabeth Cheung and Ms Astina Au. Shaun is developing a broad civil practice in commercial litigation and arbitration and accepts instructions in all areas of Chambers’ work.
Prior to joining Chambers, Shaun trained and qualified as a solicitor at Cleary Gottlieb Steen & Hamilton LLP in London. In 2022, he spent 5 months as an Associate at the Listing Division of the Hong Kong Exchanges and Clearing Limited (HKEX), where he was involved with hearings by the Listing Review Committee and various judicial reviews. He was also previously marshal to the Hon Madam Justice Lisa Wong.
Shaun read law at the University of Oxford, where he graduated with a First Class in BA Jurisprudence (ranking 9th in the year) and a BCL.

(Led by Victor Dawes SC, with Byron Chiu)- VPower Group Holdings Limited v CRRC Hong Kong Capital Management Co. Limited and VPower Group International Holdings Limited v CRRC Hong Kong Capital Management Co. Limited (heard together) [2025] HKCFI 551 – successfully resisted the Plaintiffs’ application for an injunction to restrain the presentation of a winding-up petition, involving issues concerning the Money Lenders Ordinance (Cap. 163), sham transactions and the rule in Holme v Brunskill. High Fashion New Media Corporation Limited (suing on behalf of itself and also in its capacity as the sole shareholder of LONGFORD INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY CO., LIMITED) (上海梁富信息科技有限公司) v Leong Ma Li [2025] HKCFA 19 – successfully obtained leave to appeal to the Court of Final Appeal on the proper scope of Hone v Page [1980] FSR 500, the constitution and viability of the relevant action, and the effect of non-prosecution. (Led by Wong Yan Lung SC, with Howard Wong) High Fashion New Media Corporation Limited (suing on behalf of itself and also in its capacity as the sole shareholder of LONGFORD INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY CO., LIMITED) (上海梁富信息科技有限公司) v Leong Ma Li [2024] HKCA 1067 – represented the Defendant in an appeal against a judgment finding the Defendant guilty of civil contempt. (Led by Bernard Man SC, with Howard Wong)High Fashion New Media Corporation Limited (suing on behalf of itself and also in its capacity as the sole shareholder of LONGFORD INFORMATION AND TECHNOLOGY CO., LIMITED) (上海梁富信息科技有限公司) v Leong Ma Li [2025] 5 HKLRD 691 – represented the Defendant in an application to suspend or stay execution of a committal order pending appeals against sentence and liability. (Led by Wong Yan Lung SC, with Howard Wong) Sole counsel for a major Hong Kong construction company in various High Court proceedings, including injunctions to restrain winding-up petitions, tortious, and contractual claims. The Bank of New York Mellon, London Branch v XJ International Holdings Co. Ltd (希教國際控股有限公司) [2025] HKCA 481 – successfully defended an appeal by a petitioning creditor against a first instance decision dismissing a winding-up petition on the ground of a bona fide dispute on substantial grounds. The appeal concerned the proper party to give notice of redemption of bonds under a global note in registered form. (Led by Victor Joffe SC) Aberdeen Restaurant Enterprises Limited v Gain Premium Holdings Limited [2024] HKCFI 3368 – successfully obtained a damages award of HK$100 million after a 6-day trial arising from the Defendant's failure to complete a HK$500 million sale and purchase of 509 car parking spaces, involving issues of waiver, construction of exclusion clauses in a tender contract, and the nature of debenture holders' rights in a proprietary club. (Led by Benjamin Yu SC, with Elizabeth Cheung) Chen Yue (陳悅) v Arthur Kuan & Ors [2025] HKCFI 4172 – successfully acted for the 2nd and 3rd Defendants in setting aside an ex parte order for leave to serve out an originating summons for pre-action discovery, on grounds of forum non conveniens and material non-disclosure. (Led by Victor Joffe SC)Haitong International Products & Solutions Limited v Wang Ya Feng [2025] HKCA 821 – represented the Defendant in an appeal against a first instance decision dismissing the Defendant's application to set aside an order for leave to serve out. (Led by Bernard Man SC)湖南海龍建築工程有限公司v 建業地產投資股份有限公司 (Central China Real Estate Investments Limited) (DCCJ 4589/2024) – successfully obtained summary judgment enforcing a PRC judgment at common law (sole counsel). John Wiley & Sons UK2 LLP & Anor v The Collector of Stamp Revenue (2025) 28 HKCFAR 334 – successfully resisted the taxpayers’ appeal on section 45 of the Stamp Duty Ordinance (Cap. 117), concerning whether an English Limited Liability Partnership has “issued share capital” within the meaning of that provision. (Led by Eugene Fung SC, with Elizabeth Cheung) HKIAC Arbitration (ongoing) – representing the Respondent in an ongoing arbitration brought by a major semiconductor IP licensing company claiming unpaid licence fees.
