    Profile

    Val is a practicing barrister who regularly acts in international commercial arbitrations and has advised on various aspects (such as document disclosure, jurisdictional challenge and interim relief) in arbitrations seated in various APEC jurisdictions, including Hong Kong, Mainland China, Singapore and Japan. Val has been named as a Leading Junior Barrister for Commercial Disputes by The Legal 500. He has been admitted to a number of arbitrator panels of local and international arbitral institutions and has accepted appointments as arbitrator.

    Before being called to the Hong Kong Bar in 2013, Val was a judicial assistant to the Court of Appeal and the Court of Final Appeal of Hong Kong from 2011 to 2012 where he worked with appellate judges on a variety of appeals. Prior to that, he trained as a solicitor at Linklaters and qualified in its capital markets team, where he advised on various debt, equity and equity-linked transactions.
